Wine Courses

English Expertise offers a range of courses specifically designed to meet the needs of Italian sommeliers who need to work in English.

This course is for AIS Lombardia members and is open to those with a B2- intermediate level of English. It is a 24 hour course designed to provide opportunites for improving vocabulary and fluidity of conversation and presentation skills. "Tell me wine"


Level 1- Tasting, Production techniques, Customer Service

This course is open to those with a minimum pre-intermediate (B1) level of English, and basically follows the AIS first level course in content. It is a 20 hour course, with 10 lessons and an exam. Wine tasting is done 7-8 of the lessons.

Level 2 - Wine and Food Pairing

This course is open to those with a minimum pre-intermediate (B1) level of English, who have taken the level 1 program, and basically follows the AIS thrid level course in content. It is a 30 hour course, with 10 lessons and an exam. There is wine tasting and food analysis in each lesson.

IPEC Exam preparation

International Professional English Certificates are internationally recognized competency certificates, issued by the British Chamber of Commerce.
The exams are targeted at a B2 (intermediate) level. The Enological Module is open only to members of the Associazione Italiana Sommelier. Exam preparation courses may be organized for small groups - and depending on the needs of the group will run for 12, 16 or 20 hours. Lessons include introduction to the exam structure, practice sessions with reading, listening, speaking and writing. All those who pass the exam are entitled to put their curriculum vitae on the British Chamber of Commerce website for 1 year.
